So another year has come to an end and I
am so glad that it has. Honestly 2014 was probably one of the worst years of my
life so far. But nonetheless there were a few things that I did enjoy so today I’m
bringing you my 2014 favourites! Also quick shout out to the amazing people in
my life that have helped me through the tough year that was 2014, thank you for
being my always favourites.
So starting it off with books; if you know
me, you know I’m not a big reader. I’m a very slow reader, which can be
extremely frustrating so I only ever read full books when they are extremely
interesting. This year I read two full books (such an accomplishment) that I
just loved, those were; “The Rumour Mill” by Roxy Jacenko and “The Wrong Girl”
by Zoe Foster. Both of these authors are Australian, (Aussie, Aussie, Aussie!)
and both of these books are set in Australia, which made it a lot easier to
picture it in my head, and well, just relate to the storyline and the characters in
the books better. If you haven’t read these books yet, I highly recommend them.
Next on my list is Phone Apps; I am one of
those people who are constantly on my phone, guilty as charged; it’s a little
bit of a problem. And to be honest, I am never actually doing anything
important, whatsoever. Normally I am just playing games or catching up on
Instagram and my favourite YouTubers. So here are the apps that I have been
majorly obsessed with this year. When it comes to games, I do try
them all! I am constantly on the app store looking at new games (past the top
100) to try and find a new game, so I am normally over them by the time others
start them, like candy crush, that game scarred me. Only two games lasted on my
phone the whole year and they were, Kim Kardashian Hollywood and Covet. Yes
Kimmy K got me, I had to download her game and live her life, I’m not even
ashamed, it’s addicting and fun and I literally play it every day. I also
really like Covet, which is like a fashion dress up sort of game where you
have challenges and then people vote on your looks and you win things for your
little person. Yeah I don’t really know how to explain it, you should just go
download it, both of them, they’re free! My other two favourite apps are, Instagram
and YouTube, which are pretty self-explanatory really. Instagram is like a
better Facebook, where you can stalk people’s lives, but only have to deal with
their photos and not their annoying status updates. Yes I know they have photo
captions, but you don’t have to read them, and normally, I don’t. YouTube is
just the bomb; I am on YouTube daily, hourly, just as often as one can be. I
actually opt to watch YouTube videos over the television any day. Watching my
favourite YouTubers is just so much more interesting to me, especially because
they just seem so much more real, which is probably why I watch Reality TV so
often. My absolute favourite YouTubers at them moment are; Alisha Marie,
Gabriella Lindley, Mylifeaseva, Tess Christine and Zoella, they’re the bomb, go
check them out!
As I said above, I watch a lot of Reality TV and I LOVE it! So I’m
going to start off my favourite shows of the year with, you guessed it “Keeping
up with the Kardashians” and all of their spinoff shows. I love it, it’s my guilty
pleasure, I’m not even sorry. Team Khloe and Kendall forever guys! Other than
that, the show I have been obsessing over this year is, “Pretty Little Liars”.
I went a long time without watching it because they stopped playing it on the
TV, so early in 2014 I thought I would just buy the DVD’s and I got the first
three seasons on sale at Big W and watched them all within a week, I’m not even kidding.
My sister bought me season 4 for Christmas, which I have already seen but I
wanted it on DVD for when I want a marathon, which will probably happen very soon. I
am fully caught up on all the seasons and season 5 just started again, and I am
so excited, but am not loving the whole have to wait a week to see what happens
next thing. I am so not that patient, I need to know NOW! If you have not
watched PLL, I would recommend it, and if anyone could recommend a show I
should watch while I’m waiting for the next episode, let me know in the comments below.
Now on to movies, and to be honest with
you, I didn’t watch many movies in 2014. (New ones anyway, I watched Harry
Potter like 30 times). So I only have a pick of three to share with you guys.
So lets start with “Captain America”, Okay so I LOVE the Marvel movies and
Captain America just happens to be my favourite, so I was very excited when
this came out, and it did not disappoint me, just as good as the first! And
lets just give a little appreciation to how much of a GOD Chris Evans is; I
mean seriously, look at that face, perfection! The second movie is “Maleficent”;
I loved seeing a different side to Sleeping Beauty and Maleficent herself. I thought
Angelina Jolie played the role really well and all the graphics were great.
That last movie is an animation as they are probably my favourite movie types,
and it is “How to Train your Dragon 2”. I loved the first movie and this one
was just as good. Not many movies do well with a sequel but this movie was
definitely an exception. The graphics were beautiful, the story line was great
and that dragons were magnificent, and I really want one! So those are my movie
picks for 2014, I know I missed out on a lot of movies but I am really fussy
and hate watching movies that have insane hype over them because I usually end
up disappointed. So if there are any movies from 2014 that you really think I
should watch, tell me in the comments below.
So I’m going to finish up this blog post
with a list of my favourite songs. I love music and the songs that came out in
2014 were so good! These are the songs I could not stop listening to all year,
no matter how often they were played on the radio.
Jessie J – Bang Bang featuring Ariana
Grande & Nicki Minaj
Ariana Grande – Break Free and Problem
featuring Iggy Azalea
Nicki Minaj – Anaconda
Tinashe – 2 On and Pretend
Iggy Azalea – Fancy featuring Charli XCX
and Black Widow featuring Rita Ora
Taylor Swift – Shake It Off and Blank
Space
Chris Brown – Drunk Texting
Ed Sheeran – Thinking Out Loud and Don’t
Hilary Duff – All About You
Sia – Chandelier
G.R.L – Ugly Heart
Jennifer Lopez – Booty featuring Iggy
Azalea
So that’s it for my 2014 favourites, I
didn’t add anything beauty wise because nothing really stood out for me and I
didn’t try enough/wear enough make up to find anything I seriously loved in
that category, but hopefully I will have some in my monthly favourites. Let me
know below some of your 2014 favourites and what you’re looking forward to the
most about 2015.
